Important NCOA Certification Changes
Effective November 23, 2008, the USPS has changed the requirements on the National Change of Address (NCOA) process for all prestorted 1st Class, presorted Standard and Non Profit mail.
How Does This Affect You?
Order Formats have been updated:
- Label orders now include "Or Our Neighbor At" or "Or Current Resident"
- Email Files Field Formats are updated to now include a standard field
"Or Our Neighbor At"
- NCOA link summaries will now be provided with all orders
NewClients Direct processed mail: NewClients will handle all forms, processes and compliance issues on your behalf. If we are currently handling the mailing of your marketing pieces, we have you covered.
Client Maintained Mailings: If you are internally or externally processing the lists and marketing pieces, effective November 23, 2008, you must either:
- Complete and Submit the NCOA 6014 form with each mailing. NewClients Direct will supply you with the NCOA Link® Summary.
- Add "Or Current Resident" to all future mail pieces. This process eliminates the need for the 6014 certification.
Please Keep In Mind:
- NewClients Direct will be happy to process future mail fulfillment, should this new regulation create too many internal headaches or concerns.
- Files that include "Or Current Resident" do not require NCOA certification.
- All lists/mail pieces must mail within 95 days of the NCOA Link® certification date (the date the list is produced)
- Multiple Use Lists: Please contact us to assure future mailings are in compliance. Lists that were provided in the past were not NCOA certified
- Agencies: Please communicate with your clients regarding the certification process. To avoid significant USPS fines, do not allow them to reuse prior lists without adding "Or Current Resident".
